Is there a difference? The short answer is no. However when you work in this industry people will often refer to Aestheticians as professionals that work in a medical spa, and Estheticians are in free standing salons or solo in a suite. They have the same exact license and education. Aestheticians who work in medical spas typically have more training they received on the job and or by taking additional training to do medical skin treatments such as higher level peels and perform procedures like SkinPen. They have advanced training in medical grade skincare that are only available with a medical director. At the Academy of Aesthetics and Laser our desire is to prep Aestheticians for a career in either environment.
